Mombasa artists yesterday had their MCSK annual meeting and some of them got the surprise of their life time. Most of them have had their songs played almost every time in almost all radio stations but didn't know that most of them had not been monetized.
To their surprise, the MCSK leader said most of these radio stations and Tvs have not monetized their content hence no income at all.
They urged the artists to keep up with radios that have monetized all their content to avert any confusion at the end.
Pili Pili Fm in Mombasa is the only radio that has monetized all its content. The others according to the mcsk chair had not had its systems and songs integrated.
Yahya Mohammed, Mombasa's Kaswida singer was even shocked to learn that despite him not having a large fan base, he was among the top earners simply because he songs were played by a monetized station.
The other trending artists were shocked that most of their songs were not even in the sysytems and had to add them that very day.
